Handing over the Upad keys: A word from James Davis
The founder of Upad talks about handing the keys over to the Howsy team, and what the changes mean for Upad landlords
"In 2008, Upad burst on to the scene and shook the foundations of the lettings world as we knew it. Twelve years on, the online market has boomed but the original Upad business plan, focusing on continual innovation and truly understanding the needs of the customer, still holds firm.
Following a personal health scare in 2019, my decision to close Upad’s doors felt like an era was ending far too soon. When the opportunity for the Upad brand to live on as part of the Howsy family arose, I was delighted to be able start the process.
As we start a brand-new decade, there is now a feeling of huge excitement at the next stage of the journey. I trust that the Howsy team, with their firm understanding of the lettings world and landlord needs, are perfectly placed to pick up the brand and continue developing the platform, building on the existing legacy. Upad will operate as an independent business providing the all of the services that you expect, with all the support of this new extended family.
As a landlord myself, I understand that no property is the same, and no landlord needs exactly the same service from their agency. By joining forces, Upad and Howsy will now be able to offer the luxury of choice, from traditional tenant finds to more comprehensive management solutions, we can now deliver a perfect fit for everybody. Great news for landlords, and tenants."
